Summary: A response to Salian City, Andy and Katie (NPC played by Zee) have an encounter with Coraline and Kass
Date: IC Date
coraline kass andy

Midday, as midday as it gets on Titan, lighter out, daytime. School is most likely out, just a casual time around the commorancies at Albion Commons. Then, comming from the commons green space are two officers of the Saturn Policy Agency. Uniforms, protective vests, at least not heavily armored as if expecting trouble, they are certainly not here on some routine business. One of the pair is Andy, he has his hand up, his OED is linked to headquarters and he's reading a holo dispaly pointed his way.
He turns to his partner, "Yeah, its a long shot. The daughter hangs out here, probably because her mother's spending living allowances on the drink. We see if we can find her and it might lead to her." WHatever that means, he side comments, "Daughters name is Jesca, been known to hang out with the wiz kids in this tower here." He looks up beyond the wrist holo display towards the Tower of the Western Commorancy, the condos for the student families from Mercury and Satarn. <English>

*

Coraline sits out of the way on the grounds, on a blanket that's been spread out on the grass in a place situated to not only let Coraline hear the babbling brook nearby but also still have a proper view of the garden. She keeps an empty notebook spread out on her lap and works on scrawling notes on it inbetween taking bites from a green apple. By the time that she's gotten down to the core of the fruit, she pauses to dig out some of the seeds carefully. Coraline sets them aside, to intending on saving them for later. When she's gotten the last of the seeds, she looks up in time to see Andy and his partner exploring the quad and take a break from her writing to observe them with a curious expression. Not appearing to want to involve herself in a potential investigation, she just watches the pair from afar.

*

Katie is there beside her partner, Katerina is really her name, but she's affectionately know as the Katie to her partner, on their good days. With her own OED on her wrist, she doesn't watch it, she watches his before giving him a grim look. "I always wonder if busting up the home is best or letting the perps family continue to do without is the best call." It's really not her call, so she's there to do her duty as she'd sworn to do, and let the courts decide what was best. "The wiz kids." Katie muses, a grin at the term. "I like it. Pretty damned smart, the lot of them." A glance over in the direction of the tower and a look to see who was out and about. "What's the description on the girl? Maybe this one here knows her?" An indicating nod towards Coraline. <English>

*

Kass has arrived.

*

Giving a pause in his gait, Andy looks past the display showing information on the current call their on. Towards the distant lake, then shrugging, "Not sure. I suppose as long as its not harming anyone, or making it to dispatch, let the perp do what they're doing." He looks back at the display then keeps moving. Half focused on in front of the display, half on the details. "I suppose if Jesca is choosing to leave the home, its bad enough to get us involved?" His take anyway, half a chuckle at the smart thing, he nods. He's hopeful in the kids by that demeanor there. He turns to look at the girl drawing for the moment. "THe daughter? Short dark hair, green eyes, freckles. Narrows it I guess." He points over towards the one on the lawn drawing, "Want to ask her if she knows anything?" Suggesting Katie go ahead to ask and he'll catch up even. <English>

*

Kass has partially disconnected.

*

Noticing the officer's pause, Coraline looks around to double-check and see if they are looking for someone else around her. Just in case still, she closes her notebook and tucks her pen on the page she was on to mark it for later and rises to her feet. She brushes herself off and smooths down her dress before she gathers up the blanket she was sitting on. With her spot cleaned up, she makes her way over to Andy and Katie to offer the pair a gentle smile. "Good evening officers, I hope that the day has been well for you both. Is there something wrong?" Her head cants slightly to the side after the question and she has to heft up the blanket and book in her arms to keep it from slipping out of her grasp. <English>

*

The dilemma of her approaching alone or bringing Andy with her is settled as the girl approaches. A quiet look as she sweeps her gaze over the girl before she offers a gentle smile in return. "Good day to you, Miss. Nothing is wrong, really, but we just want to prevent anything from being wrong." As far as explanations go, it's not a good or practiced one. "I'm Officer Katie, this is Officer Andy. We just have a couple of questions for you, if we could have a moment of your time?" Leaving the questions deftly to her partner while she just listens. <English>

*

r At the approach, Andy looks at the display. Giving it a finger swipe to send the data out of view, he pauses once to look at one more detail then removes it. Protection for the perp, the family and due process at least. He stands quiet as his partner sums it up. He only looks off hearing some of the younger kids of the families playing in the distance, but keeps mostly focused on the girl for the moment. When Katie finishes, he chimes in with his two cents just the same. "Just routine." His head gave affirmative agreement to if the girl had time of course. He tries to fold a hand slightly behind him, as if trying not to seem intimidating or anything. Not that the gesture would help, they arrived in police uniform, it is what it is after all. <English>

*

The arrival of a small aerial drone comes in to land nearby where Coraline has her blanket, a warning light flashing on the surface suggesting some sort of error can be seen. This all happens moments before Kass comes running up, still wearing her cadet uniform, and a control gauntlet of some sort is worn over her arm, no doubt a device used to control the drone. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" She exclaims as she moves to crouch down beside the little remote, "It didn't hit any of you did it??" she asks, looking up a little, "Oh. Hi officers." <English>

*

Coraline gently hums under her breath, her eyes attentively watching Katie for a moment. She's just about to respond when the drone lands nearby, causing her to look down at it with a slightly confused expression. When Kass comes up to retrieve it, Coraline smiles softly at her and shakes her head. "No, I'm fine, didn't hit me." After that reassurance is offered, she tells Katie, "Of course, happy to answer whatever questions you might have. Anything to help out. Is there a specific part of the campus you needed to find?" <English>

*

The drone quickly catches her attention and Katie stiffens her shoulders slightly until the other student on premises claims it. Relaxing her posture she adopts the easy going expression again. "I think we have the address right, just wondered if you'd seen one of the persons of interest." Again, she leaves it to Andy to delve into, a slight squint in his direction at his hesitance in asking what was to be asked. Kass gets a gentle smile as well, "Both of you, if you don't mind. The more eyes the better." <English>

*

The same stance is adopted by Andy, a pause to look in the direction of the drone, his hand moves closer to the pistol at his side. Then relaxing as a student claims the drone. "All good here," he joins in the cause of being unharmed by the errant device. Hands look over the glove/control device. Then prompted by his partner. "Yes, Western Tower here is the place. Looking for Jesca Wilkers, well her mom. A neighor …" A pause, realizing he doesn't need to delve into details. "Sources say she hangs out with a family here, maybe one of you two have seen her before." Pulling up his OED again, he finger dials the air over it to pull up a picture, a similar aged girl. Dark hair, short on the sides, longer bangs, green eyes, freckles less dark than her hair. "Just a few questions for her too." To suggest she's done nothing either, the Jesca girl they're inquiring about. <English>

*

Kass fiddles with a few controls and the light goes out on the drone as she resets it, "I'm trying to program in some basic autonomy protocols into it." She explains sheepishly, "And it kinda got confused, I guess. At least the landing protocol worked?" she shrugs a little, looking up at the image shown and hmning softly, "I uh, dunno, don't think I've seen her, but I can keep an eye out?" <English>

*

Coraline looks more closely at the picture offered to the both and hums gently to herself trying to recall details. "I may have, I think I've seen that girl coming and going from the third floor of the Tower maybe? But not any more than in passing, I never really caught her name or which room might be hers. My family and I stay a couple of floors above." She looks back down to idly inspect the drone Kass fidgets with, nodding her head in understanding. "At least that's something." She does agree, "Always good to think about the positives no matter how much improvement might be needed. STill, it's something incredible. I don't really know a thing about what it takes to program or fly one of those machines." <English>

*

Taking interest in the drone and the way the young lady explains it, "That sounds really impressive. I'm certainly not so technologically inclined." A hint at a smile from Katie but she does look towards the tower when the mention of where the girl stays is. She tilts her head, adopting a curious expression towards it. "That's really helpful, thank you." The smile grows a touch even as she relaxes her posture further. "An eye out would be great, thank you both." <English>

*

"Kinda," questions Andy less impressed, or more curious about the protocols. Kinda didn't work but landed, he nods though. Its beyond his rank that's for sure. Though a hint of a grin to him as well, he couldn't get something to do that unless it came packaged to do that stuff already. "Yeah, keep an eye out.." He nods at Katie, agreeing it would be helpful without duplicating her words. He finger moves a little more, his contact info comes up in the holo over his OED, they could swipe their devices near if they wanted to get his contact into their systems. He simply puts it out there. "Third floor," he repeats one more time to be sure. Then more a grin, "Next time were in this neck of the woods, we'll have to see how those protocols are coming." Confidence given, he thinks the girl can do it. "Thanks for the time," he turns towards the building, eyeing up to the third floor as he turns off the OED display from his wrist device. <English>

*

"Well, Robotics isn't my strongest subject, but I'm sure I'll get it working. There's plenty of reference material anyway." Kass will say with a bright smile flashed up towards Andy, giving a slight nod of her head before looking to the others, "I'm Kasumi Kaze, by the way, you can call me Kass though." she nods her head at Coraline, "I think it's just having trouble referencing it's built in sensors probably, so it doesn't know what's around it quite right, maybe. I hope it's that simple anyway!" <English>

*

Coraline looks down and has to pat herself down to find her device that she can use to scan in Andy's offered detailed. She nods at him gratefully and confirms to him, "That's right. Good luck, and I hope that everything goes alright." She looks to Kass and nods in understanding, "Hopefully, does sound like it's something you could help it correct. Maybe it just needs to fail a time or two to learn from its mistakes. That would be something." Blinking and remembering her manners, she offers too, "Coraline Leduc, a pleasure to meet you. Most just call me Cora and I don't mind." Returning her attention to the officers, she offers to them, "I'll continue to keep my eye out and tell you if I notice anything out of the ordinary. If you need anymore help, don't be afraid to ask. I'm usually out here getting fresh air since classes haven't started again yet." <English>

*

Watching her partner with the girls, Katie can't help but to give him a goofy grin. "One day your daughter may be coming to one of these places, Andy." The girls are given another smile. "Officer Katie, and this is Officer Andy," she offers to Kass. "Here you go." Offering out her own OED so they can tap it and get her contact information. It's restricted to her personal phone number and her name and rank only, if it's tapped. "Kass and Cora, you're the first students from here I've met I think. It's really nice to meet you." <English>

*

"Exactly, hopefully this is the last time unless that happens," chuckles Andy towards his partner. But he stern eyes towards the girls half a moment. "Andrew," he corrects, officer Andrew, Giordano by the information from his OED. A slight shake of his head, from Kass whom he can't help even if he wanted, not just a rank think, but he knows little about protocols and programming. Then over to Coraline that same shaking of his head, "If we need to come out, we'll definitely come this way." Seeing as she offered it as her usual spot. "Same here, first time around here, like I said, hopefully the last. Don't want to interfere with your kids work and all." Cause he is hopeful that they can help the situation on the outer planets. That said, he turns with a nod, a mock salute and a turn to walk for the tower proper. <English>

*

Kass will of course go to exchange info with her own OED when it's offered, "Nice to meet you Officer Katie." She says with a nod of her head, "And I guess it must be kinda new to a lot of people, I've never been this far out before either. The view is like, way different out here, that's for sure." <English>

*

Coraline dips into a subtle bowing curtsy before giggling softly under her breath after listening to Katie and Andy's interaction. For Andy's sake, she does nod to show that she understands and repeats after him, "Officer Andrew, of ourse. And if your daughter does happen to make it in, I'd do my best to show her around and make sure that she settles in comfortably! There are a lot of nice students here, that's for certain, it's probably the most people that I've met." She does consider it and admits to Kass, "It's very nice, though Rhea is not too far away relatively speaking, it's still a very different experience here at the capital. So much more lively." <English>

*

All business like and ready to go, Andy gives a pause to turn back and look at the girls again. "This far out? How far in are you from?" To Kass, and he assumes and means the inner planets most likely by guessing from her far out comment. Then a turn towards Coraline as well, "That's good to know, doubt she will, I don't know what test she needs to pass, but don't think its in the gene pool." But one never really knows. He does offer some condolence, "Before coming to Titan, my folks managed some mining bots on Tethys, people wasn't me thing at first." As if he's grown accustomed to it. But that bit of curiousity from both has given him that pause, not quite leaving for the third floor of the nearby tower. <English>

*

"Real far." Kass says, "I grew up on one of the Venusian Aerostats." She explains as she moves to take a seat as well nearby where Coraline has settled herself at. She smiles at Coraline's comment, "Rhea, that's near here huh? You'll have to show me around sometime!" <English>

*

Coraline dips her head in confirmation and looks up towards the sky, squinting thoughtfully. She ends up pointing up in a vague direction and making a circling gesture with her finger, "If I recall right, and my astronomy is very rusty, Rhea is somewhere out in that direction. One of those moons. We're known for the soil distribution mostly, but the ground is getting more fertile and more is growing with each passing year. Could likely take one of the teleporters there easily enough when and if there's ever enough down time. The scenery is lovely." She looks back at Andy and nods her head, "The good thing about it I believe is that even if it's a smaller community, it's much more closely knit so in a way it never felt too lonely to me. I did wish back then that there were just a couple of more kids about my age." <English>

*

"I guess you get a lot of that here now, a lot of the students your age. I really am impressed with all you are all trying to do with the war efforts. Really impressed." Katie looks towards the building they need to go visit. "We'll leave you two students here and go check things out with the person of interest. Thank you again for your help." <English>

*

As Kass says where she was from, Andy squints just a little, and looks up at the sky the same. "I'd think you'd get a headache when the sun was up, that bright all the time." He's starting to turn to Coraline, "Yeah, that's how it …" SOmething about the smaller city he grew up in probably, then Katie brings him back to business. "Thanks again for your time too. Much appreciated." Then he finally turns, nodding to Katie, quiet thanks for getting them back to task at least as he turns his feet towards the building and finally actually goes in that direction. <English>

*

"Oh no, it's the best." Kass says, "They even keep the cities on the day side longer, or sometimes long nights for special festivals and events and such." she says, flashing a smile over at Cora, "We don't have much soil, but there's a lot of industry, mining, and such on the surface." she turns to offer a wave to Andy and Katie as they excuse themselves, "Thanks officers!" <English>

*

Coraline's smile drifts to something more sad, but she nods her head, "Anything to help, there has been too much loss that has happened as it is. If there can be a solution that's found within our lifetime, then hopefully it helps another generation to see an entire lifetime of peace and prosperity." While she's about to listen to Andy's words, she does lift her hand to offer him and Katie both a wave when they decide to return to business, "You are welcome, have a good night and rest well." Coraline clasps her hands together after the waving one has drifted back down and she tells Kass, "The festivals sound like they're something. I'd love to visit the other planets out there someday." <English>

*

"No truer words were ever spoken, Miss Cora. I hope the future generations can find the peace and prosperity we've found until now. Magic has returned to the world. Maybe that's all we need in the fight." Another smile and Katie excuses herself to head off with Andy for the questioning that is sure to follow, if they find the person. <English>
